Terms of Use

1. Purpose & Nature of the Tool

The Rolls Development Risk Assessment Tool ("the Tool") is a web-based application designed to help pilots identify and organize potential risk factors before flight. The Tool is intended solely for educational and decision-support purposes.

The Tool does not provide flight authorization, legal currency determinations, operational approval, air traffic control services, or official weather briefings of any kind. It is not a substitute for any FAA-approved or regulatory-required flight planning resource.

2. No Guarantee of Safety

Aviation involves inherent risk, and no tool, application, or assessment can identify or eliminate all hazards. Any risk scores, indicators, color codes, recommendations, or guidance displayed by the Tool are estimates based solely on user-provided inputs and publicly available data. They are provided for educational and situational awareness purposes only.

The risk scoring methodology is simplified and generalized. It does not account for every possible variable, combination of factors, local conditions, aircraft-specific limitations, regulatory requirements, or pilot-specific considerations that may affect flight safety.

3. Pilot in Command Responsibility

You, as pilot in command (PIC), are solely and exclusively responsible for all flight planning, aeronautical decision-making, and execution of every flight. This responsibility cannot be delegated to any tool, application, or third party.

Per 14 CFR § 91.3, the pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft. Use of this Tool does not modify, reduce, or transfer any aspect of PIC responsibility.

4. Required Use of Official Resources

Before every flight, you must:

5. Weather Data Disclaimer

Weather data displayed in this Tool is fetched from public APIs (aviationweather.gov) and may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. This does not constitute an official weather briefing. Weather conditions can change rapidly and may differ significantly from reported or forecast conditions. Always obtain a standard or abbreviated briefing from an approved source.

6. Data & Privacy

Your assessment data, pilot profile, and account information are stored on our servers. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but we cannot guarantee absolute security. Your data is used solely to provide the Tool's functionality and is not sold to third parties.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Assessment data may be used in anonymized, aggregated form for improving the Tool.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rolls Development, its owners, developers, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from or related to:

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rolls Development and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising from your use of the Tool or violation of these Terms.

9. No Professional Advice

Nothing in this Tool constitutes legal, medical, aviation, or professional advice. Consult qualified professionals (certificated flight instructors, aviation medical examiners, aviation attorneys) for specific guidance related to your flying activities.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Tool after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the Tool.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Tool only for its intended purpose of personal flight risk assessment. You may not:

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
